Bill McDowell is the founder and editor of Blessed South. He believes the South is one of the world's richest collections of stories, traditions, recipes, and communities. Through Blessed South, he hopes to preserve those stories and help more people discover the places that make the region extraordinary.

Blessed South began the way most good Southern things do: around a table, with a story worth telling and someone who couldn't let it go. What started as a way for Bill and his wife Misti to hold onto the places, plates, and people that shaped them has grown into a weekly celebration of the region in all its richness: the coastal towns and the mountain hollows, the church-cookbook recipes and the roadside stands, the traditions handed down and the ones still being made. Bill writes The Sunday Letter each week, profiles the towns worth the drive, and chases down the stories that might otherwise be forgotten. He and Misti would be glad to have you along.

Blessed South exists to preserve the stories, tables, and traditions of the American South, and to help more people discover the places that make it extraordinary.
